Newbie Blog Hop & Helpful Websites

I'm excited to be joining all the other newbie bloggers out there by linking up to Grade Three is the Place for Me's Newbie Blog Hop!

I'm happy to be joining this blog hop to share in the excitement and fears of starting a blog with fellow new bloggers!

Here's what we have to share:

1. What state you are in
2. Your current teaching position
3. Your teaching experience
4. When you started blogging
5. A blogging tip

* I live in Missouri
* This year I will be teaching second grade
* I have taught first grade for four years and start new in second grade next year
* I started my blog in June
* Tip - turn off the robot commenting thing, it can get really annoying when you're leaving multiple comments in a day; also Megan's Blog Baby Blog has great resources for new bloggers

Are you a new blogger? Do you want to support the new bloggers?  Go check out the Newbie Bloggers Blog Hop by clicking on the picture above :)

**************************************************

I've also been meaning to post about these websites that are super helpful to me, but I got sidetracked by all the great blog hops, linky parties, and awards!  So I'm squeezing this in with my blog hop!!

*Scholastic's Book Wizard - This website is great if you are organizing your classroom library and need to label some of your books for your leveled part of your library.  Like, last year in first grade, my leveled library was organized by Guided Reading Levels.  Each student knew their "level" and chose just right books from the baskets.

Book Wizard
You can choose the Reading System you use - I use Guided Reading
Type in a book name, like Junie B Jones is Not a Crook,
and voila - it shows you what reading level is is!

*Storyline Online - Great website that shows clips of actors reading aloud picture books!  Sometimes it's nice for the kids to hear someone other than their teacher read a book!

Storyline Online
Choose a story from 3-4 pages
Who doesn't want to hear Betty White read a story??

I'm sure there are a TON of other great websites out there that teachers use often..... maybe there will be a linky party for it some day!  These are just some of my faves!!

    1. I know Heather, isn't is great?! The only bad thing is that they aren't putting any new read-alouds on there!

  11. So many people are giving the same tip as you, but I'm still getting the robot on every other blog. Normally it doesn't bother me too much, but during a blog hop? oh yes!

    I'm your newest follower.

    1. I know!! I've seen this tip on a lot of blogs too and then on every one I have to be confirmed as a human! Haha! That is when it's annoying, when leaving lots of comments or blog hopping! Thanks for visiting Mrs. D!
