Letter Searches!

I've really been wanting to create letter searches for awhile now. I've had a Sight Word Search in my TpT Store for awhile and people have been asking me when I'll have letter searches out.  I finally just sat down and got to it!  I have a Capital Letters set, a Lowercase Letters set, and a Capital and Lowercase Letters BUNDLE now in my store.

Go check them out!

Monday Made It

I'm linking up with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics today to share some of my projects I'm been working on for the last two weeks (I didn't quite get to linking up last week).

We officially go back this Wednesday, then on Friday we have our Meet the Teacher events. With meetings all day Wednesday and Thursday, I don't know how they were thinking we would be ready for Meet the Teacher so I've been slowly going up to school to get things ready and I think I'm about there!

Substitute Report Page.

I really don't know why I've never used one, but I haven't. I've seen them all over Pinterest and have colleagues that use them but never found it necessary, until last year. I feel like I had a bad run with subs last year not following my very detailed plans or not leaving me any notes from the day. So I decided to whip one up to use. I already made several copies and put them in the pocket in my Sub Binder. Ready to go!

Back to school gifts for my Kindergarten team.

I like to get my team something small to welcome everyone back to school and get us off to a good start. I usually buy some things to put together, but I decided to make something this year. Cheaper and easier! So I made this to-do list page, customized them with my teammates names, and sent them to our district office to turn into a pad (they can do projects like this for us - it's awesome).

First Aid Kit.

The nurse gives us a small baggie of first aid stuff at the beginning of the year like bandaids and gloves, but I've never put anything out for student access before. I saw this label at Time 4 Kindergarten during a Monday Made It this summer and decided to snag it and make my own little kit for this year. I only put bandaids in it because that's all my Kinders would need but it'll give me and them better access for those boo-boos that they will inevitably get.

First Day of School sign.

I've been making a first day of school sign for a few years now. This year I decided to put it in a frame for easy handling. You can grab it for FREE for K-2 in my TpT store HERE.

Student Birthday Pencils.

I went the easy route and am doing pencils for student birthdays this year. I have many little things left over from previous years so I decided to be frugal and use all of them for my birthday/holiday student gifts. I made this cute this tag, slit the top and bottom, and put the pencils through. Easy.

Thanks for checking out my projects! And don't forget about the TpT Back to School Sale! Everything in my store is 20% off!

Monday Made It

My first Monday Made It this summer... finally! I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics to share some made-its.

First day of school gifts for my Kindergarteners! Our first day isn't until August 11th but I've always got school on my brain and wanted to get something done - one less thing to worry about when I return to school. Plus I did it at home watching TV. These notes are a new FREEBIE in my TpT Store as part of my Summer STEALS.

Next up... Sweet Dreams poem for the night before the first day of school. There's a few versions of this poem going around Pinterest and blogs, and I've posted about it on my blog before. I give these out at Kindergarten Orientation (kind of like Meet the Teacher) for students/families to read the night before the first day of school. Parents seem to love them! I typed it up and attached star confetti in little bags to them.

100th Day of School Fun!

We celebrated the 100th day of school last week! In case you didn't know, it's a pretty big deal in Kindergarten. Here are some of the highlights from our special day.

I introduced this poem to my class in the morning and we sang it throughout the day.

We completed two class books - What Could You Eat 100 Of? and Things We've Been Told 100 Times. The second one is definitely fun to read! You can find both class books in my TpT Store, one is FREE.

I started doing this Gumball Machine craft last year and I LOVE it. The kids have fun and they are great to display in the classroom. Last year I had my students use their fingerprints (and paint), and this year we used bingo markers.

During my students' lunch time, I hid 100 Hershey Kisses around the room. They each had a sticker on the bottom with a number 1-100. When students found a kiss, they brought it to the hundreds chart to match it with it's number.

For snack I mixed up a bunch of different small snack pieces. Then students filled a hundreds chart with their choice of snack pieces and got to eat it.

I LOVED this hundreds chart puzzle activity. It was a lot of prep beforehand, but I really liked how it turned out. It challenged my students but they had fun putting their own individual puzzles together.

I had each student bring in a collection of 100 small items. Then during Math time they sorted their collections into groups of 10, and groups of 5. LOTS of counting to 100!

The 100th day of school is bittersweet to me. It's so fun and the kids love it -I lost count of how many times I heard "This is the best day EVER." But it's also crazy and exhausting, and I'm glad it's over. Next up... Valentine's Day.

I'm Back {and a Freebie}

Oh, the life a a teacher blogger. I know we all go through our spurts of not having the time to blog... and that has been me recently. Our district has moved from iweb to blogger for our class websites, so in the fall I was determined to work on my class blog and make it a great resource for parents. I'm finally feeling like I can catch my breath a little (maybe because it's a long weekend) so I'm back to touch base on this blog. Do you use blogger as your class website? If so, I'd love you to include a link in a your comment so I can check it out!

Anyway, I'm making this short and sweet with the intention I'll be back soon. The 100th day of school is coming up! Next Friday for us, and we like to celebrate big in Kindergarten. I have created two class book products for my TpT store -- and one of them in a freebie! Click on the pictures to get to them!

Curriculum Night

We had our Curriculum Night this week.  It's a time for our teachers to give parents information for our class and the basic curriculum we'll cover.  I like to share with parents what a typical day looks like in Kindergarten, and usually prepare a Powerpoint presentation.

I of course make a teacher wish list for parents who feel like donating items to our classroom.  Our parent community is very generous, and always willing to provide needed items.

This year I created a popcorn themed display for my wish list.

I think it came out really cute.  I also went ahead and did the popcorn parent treat as well to go with the theme.

Under the popcorn is a file I prepare for each family with handouts like our sight words, how we teach letter formation, class lists, schedule, etc.

I have added my Popcorn Themed Teacher Wish List Display to my TpT store.  Go check it out!

I Survived the First Day!

Props to you if you are a blogger and have blogged during the first few weeks back at school!  This was our sixth day of school, and I am beat and have no time to blog.

But I need to.

And I need to share my classroom photos but I'm waiting to hang a few things up and have a photo ready room first. :)  Until then, how about I share about our first day of Kindergarten?

This is only my second year teaching Kindergarten.  I guess I blocked out the first few weeks of last year, because boy, are they itty bitty, and super wiggly.  I seem to forget that.  You are welcome first grade teachers for training these youngin's before we send them off to you.

After reading First Day Jitters, my kiddos completed their first day page by showing how they felt when they came to school and then how they felt as our first day was ending.  You can find this First Day Emotions activity in my TpT store.

We colored and made our first day of Kindergarten crowns.  They were freebies from My Heart Belongs to Kindergarten.

And here's their cute gift for surviving enjoying their first day of school!

This is a teammate and I after surviving our first day!
